Kardamena (Greek: Καρδάμενα), is a small Greek village 7 km from Kos Island International Airport at Antimachia, situated mid-way along the south coast of the island of Kos. Once a small fishing village, it has emerged as one of the most popular summer destinations, especially for British tourists, over the past two decades, offering scores of pubs and restaurants, bars and night clubs and water sports facilities. It reported a population of 1,783 inhabitants at the 2001 census and has a land area of 35.150 km².

Kardamaina is built on the site of the ancient settlement of Alasarna. During the 2nd century BC, Alasarna was an important urban center with one thousand citizens, to whom the slaves and the metics should be added.

The archaeological excavations have brought to light some impressive ruins. A Temple of Apollo, an extensive Early Christian settlement (from the very few known in Greece), as well as four basilicas that belong to the same period. Also many stone objects of everyday use (millstones, tools, vases, vessels, etc.), mostly made of volcanic and sedimentary rocks have been recovered so far.

SunBeam, the perfect place to chill out...

We didn't stay at the apartments but spent every day of our two week holiday both in the bar restraunt and outside on the lovely beach. It's the perfect place to chill out as Andreas and his family are some of the friendliest hosts we have ever met. The food and drinks are superb with a range of home cooked meals which are delicious. The service is brilliant as nothing is too much trouble.
People we talked to come back here year after year and this is no surprise as it is idyllic
Thanks Andreas.https://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowUserReviews-g659630-d1226419-r523634799-Sunbeam_Apart_Hotel-Kardamena_Kos_Dodecanese_South_Aegean.html#CHECK_RATES_CONT

“Fantastic little hotel! ”

Andreas the owner was lovely and welcoming. Rooms are cleaned frequently and a nice size. The view from our balcony was beautiful. Food was amazing and priced well. There is a small beach sectioned off at the front of the hotel which is lovely - It was being cleaned and renewed when we were there so looks even nicer than before. Definitely would recommend Sunbeam, hard to find such a good view from a hotel balcony and cannot be closer to the beach front!

Fabulous two weeks. Paradise on earth is my description of the Sunbeam

Ellen T

Sutton in Ashfield, United Kingdom
As always we spent a fantastic two weeks at Sunbeam hosted by Andreas and his family and staff. Rooms are basic and immaculately clean and have now been upgraded with air-conditioning and TV in each room .. though why anyone would want to watch TV in such a perfect location is beyond me. Sadly air con was not included in holiday price but was worth spending the extra euros to be comfortable during our stay. Just four steps down from the restaurant/bar area of the foyer and you are on the beach. Plenty of sunbeds available for free. Where the beach has become rocky someone has laid down sandbags to make it easier to get into the water, a good thing for anyone a little unsteady on their feet. Food and drinks are available all day and are excellent value for money .... meals portions are huge and delicious. Paradise on earth is my description of the Sunbeam and I hope to return in 2018 if my health allows.
Room Tip: 5 rooms each of 2 floors. Spiral stair access might be problem for some with walking difficulties. F...

“brilliant holiday”

well we arrived at the Sunbeam on June 11th, after a good flight from Birmingham, to be met by the proprietor Andreas, who was first class all week, nothing to much trouble for him. we had a small blip concerning our room, but he soon solved that.
we we given room 203, which had a huge balcony , with a sea view and views of the ships coming and going, also another balcony on the front, but we left that one alone , as a birds nest . was built in the corner , and the chicks were in there.
first port of call was to visit the calypso Bar, to see our friends , Ilias, Katerina, Paul and Maria, and Nikos, who we have known for 22 years.
after a decent sleep, we made our way to the beach, which is down four steps, from the restaurant.
we then decided to have breakfast, which is one of the best full English anywhere, 2 Bacon , 2 eggs, sausage, beans, tomatoes, hash brown, mushrooms, and black pudding, if you want it, 2 toast and jam, croissant, a biscuit with tea or coffee, and orange juice, and for 5 and half euro was value for money.
then back on the sunbeds, which are free, we had a light snack at lunchtime and a drink.
at night we went to different restaurants, we have used over the years, Adelphi, Ariadni, Annas, Manos, and Faros, where our friend from Costas and Paradise, Andreas now works, good food and drink in all of them,
a superb week was spoilt by a 3hours 40 mins delay at the airport
a great week, thanks Andreas for your kind hospitality, we will be back there
